So it’s already the 1st of March! What the…?!
For me at the moment it’s a final ramp up for the end of the current financial year and setting targets and plans for the next.
Now, in life I’m absolutely all for enjoying the now, living in the moment and making sure I don’t miss out on the present by focusing too exclusively on what I want to achieve in the future… but I do certainly know that having short and mid term goals keeps the necessary drive in place that ensures I’m heading in the direction I want to be going.
I’m really excited about the year ahead and I’m also extremely pleased with the results of the year we’re finishing up. I find that reflecting on the ups and downs of the year and learning from them makes for an excellent “continual improvement” program, and it levels you. It’s these experiences that sharpen your focus on what it is you want and don’t want in your work and life. If you learn from everything then nothing is wasted.
Understanding yourself is also extremely valuable. If you’re spending more of your time on the things that you’re good at and enjoy, and less on the things that you don’t then you’re productivity increases. You have to be honest with yourself and admit your weaknesses so that you can address them. Finding alternative methods of getting things done where you involve others that have the relevant strengths to cover your shortfalls means overall and collectively your more effective, and much more likely to enjoy what your doing. Therefore better placed to achieve more!
So the year ahead is full of excitement and lots of potential change, and I’m really looking forward to it. My focus is to continue building a life that works for me and my loved ones, and embracing all of the challenges and experiences that comes with that. But at this precise moment in time I’m enjoying a nice glass of red whilst the snow storm carries on outside!
What are your plans? What experiences have you had that are now shaping your future aspirations? What keeps you motivated and focused?
Hit me up guys 🤙 I love to read your comments.
